Las Vegas DUI and Your Driving Record
If a driver with a Nevada driver's license is arrested for drunk driving in Las Vegas and either has a .08% blood-alcohol test result or refuses to submit to testing, his license will be confiscated by the officer and immediately suspended. This suspension will appear indefinitely in the records of the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles.
If the driver is from out-of-state, the officer cannot confiscate the property of another state, nor does Nevada have any jurisdiction to suspend that license. Instead, the driver will be served with a notice of suspension of the privilege to drive within the State of Nevada and Nevada will notify the DMV of the driver's home state of the suspension. All states now belong to an interstate compact in which they agree to share information with other states in the event of a DUI suspension or revocation.
